Living with Conscious Intention

Setting specific intentions to get what you really want.

When my son was about 9 years of age, he wanted a very specific pair of shoes.   At the time the shoes cost nearly $50 – back when shoes were less than $20.00. I told him that there was no way he was getting those shoes.

The following Saturday,  I drove my son and one of his friends to the Mall for new school shoes. Upon entering the first store, he ran to a display rack and lifted a shoe saying, “Look, Mom, they have them.”

I shuddered.  “I’m not paying $50 for your shoes,” I said.

As if on cue, his friend handed me a coupon which he just happened to have in his pocket – for 25% off. The coupon made the cost of the shoes  under $40… better, but still too expensive for shoes that would be outgrown quickly.

Undeterred, my son walked up to the shoe clerk to ask for a pair in his size. “Let me check for your size,” he said disappearing to the storeroom.  He soon came back carrying a shoe box.   “You are in luck,” he said, “I found one pair in your size.”

I cringed.  My son tried the shoes,  nearly floating off the carpet as he walked about in them.  “Mom, please. Mom… please.”

I sat in the chair quietly wondering how I’d get him into other shoes, when the clerk came back and said, “Those shoes are on sale today – 25% off.”

Enthusiastically my son pulled the coupon from my hand and showed it to the clerk,  “Will you deduct this too?”

The clerk looked at the coupon, rubbed his chin in thought, then said “Okay”.

“How much does that make the shoes?” my son asked.

“Well, deducting for the shoe sale and then deducting the coupon, I’d say about $20.00,” said the clerk.

I laughed out loud — and of course he got his shoes.

My son proved to me once again that the powerful forces of the Universe deliver when we align with clear intention.

Aligning with clear intention.
